Special Dietary Needs Badge
Simply take the code from the various sized badges and add it to your site or blog. People then will know that you support Food Vancouver and that they can click on the badge to go to this special diet page to find restaurants that accommodate their needs plus find other valuable information. If you do place a badge on your website or blog please send an email to info (at) gkmedia (dot) ca with the subject heading Added a Badge and I will add your url to the supporters list below.

We have found that when asked, restaurants are often able to accommodate certain special dietary needs, but the biggest hurdle is good communication between the customer and the server, and between the server and the chef. If you have a special dietary concern, please remember to inform your server. One of our objectives at Food Vancouver is to help educate restaurants about various special dietary needs. Over time we hope to provide a resource of information about a variety of these needs. But you, as a customer, can also play an important role in educating restaurants, by simply informing your server and taking a moment to explain your needs.
The printable card is an extension of our philosophy in regards to special dietary needs. Please remember that this printable card is just another tool to help you with your dining experience. Other tools that should be used in conjunction with the card is; calling ahead to make sure the restaurant can accommodate your special diets, checking our website to see if the restaurant has provided valuable information in regards to their ability to handle special diets and communication with your server.
To use the card, print the card out and, before speaking to your server, identify the special dietary conditions you face, and in the "comments" space provide details of actual food preparation requirements in case the chef is not aware of the ramifications of your condition(s). For instance, specify "NO VEGETABLES" if you must avoid dietary fibre.
The degree of detail you choose to provide in that regard is then up to you.
