West Vancouver is home to some of Vancouver?s richest people, with many properties worth over $1 million. It's also a small community nestled on Burrard Inlet that appeals to the elderly and families, with a few streets lined with interesting little coffee shops and cafes, some fabulous gelato places and some decent restaurants as well. There are several beaches, including the very large beach at Ambleside Park, which has a great view of Lion?s Gate Bridge and Stanley Park. There are also some cultural attractions including some little waterfront art galleries that feature local artists, and frequent street festivals with live music and entertainers.
Surprisingly enough, West Vancouver is only a 15 minute drive from downtown Vancouver, and yet it has a small town feel about it. You may find it very engaging to peruse the various local attractions, but when it comes time to eat, the obvious fancy restaurants might seem a bit daunting if you?re just looking for a quick bite. Never fear -- there is always the option of eating sushi. Just head over to Kin Sushi, located in a strip mall a few streets west of the main shopping area.?
I?d say that Kin Sushi matches the general standards of price and quality that you can expect of sushi restaurants in Vancouver, but it is more of a take-out place since the dining room is tiny and mostly undecorated. But we found the lunch special was good value (miso soup and lots of
maki for just over $5.00). It was just the perfect meal to remind my friend and myself that we were still in sushi-crazy Vancouver, even though the most immediate West-Van cultural evidence would lead us to believe otherwise.
