Vancouver's best-kept restaurant secrets

Winterruption is happening this weekend at Granville Island.  One of the special events is Ocean Commotion.  From the press release:

Vancouver, BC: Form and function meet in a kinetic sculpture titled Ocean Commotion, to be unveiled this Saturday, February 24 during Granville Island’s annual winter festival, Winterruption. Created by Cheryl Hamilton and Mike Vandermeer, owners of Granville Island art studio ie creative, Ocean Commotion visually incorporates the raw materials used in concrete. Cement, water, sand and gravel are each represented by coloured balls rolling through the sculpture’s 300 feet of metal track. Other materials used in its construction include 260 feet of electrical wire, 10 electronic switches, six motors, 110 feet of mechanical chain and 20 custom cast snooker balls. Ocean Commotion took 3,000 hours to complete.

 Winterruption, a uniquely Vancouver winter festival, interrupts your winter blahs with music, theatre, film, literary, culinary and visual arts, Feb. 23 - 25, on Granville Island.
