Directly from the Arts Club Press Release: SCOTCH WHISKY IS THE STAR OF A NEW ARTS CLUB DINNER Vancouver, B.C.—The Arts Club Theatre Company, in partnership with Kale & Nori Culinary Arts and Legacy Liquor Store, announces an evening to celebrate the finest in Scotch whisky. Featuring a tasting, a four-course dinner, and cocktail pairings, the intimate event on Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 6 PM, will benefit the not-for-profit theatre company. Meaning “water of life” in Gaelic, whisky originated in Scotland and it is one of its most famous and popular exports. The dinner is an ideal opportunity to delve into the long history of the revered malt elixir, and to taste cocktails on the cutting-edge of current trends in mixology. Taking place around the communal harvest table in the Legacy Liquor Store (1633 Manitoba Street, Vancouver), the evening highlights four premium whiskies: Ardbeg (Islay), Auchentoshan (Lowlands), Benromach (Speyside), and Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban (Highlands). The menu is created by highly decorated chef Jonathan Chovancek of Kale & Nori Culinary Arts, a boutique catering outfit specializing in contemporary and innovative cuisine that incorporates healthy, ethical, and seasonal fare. His partner, Lauren Mote, is an award-winning mixologist who utilizes culinary theory to create cocktails that show off the versatility and distinct flavour profile of single malt whiskies. Mote takes pride in using many homemade elements, such as bitters, tinctures and cordials, in her inventive concoctions. The Arts Club Theatre Company’s Whisky Dinner is held on July 12 at Legacy Liquor Store (1633 Manitoba St., Vancouver). Tickets to benefit the Arts Club are $90.
