Directly from the Gastrointestinal Society Press Release:
Golf Marathon 2011 Ever Wish You Could Golf All Day?
On September 26, 2011, join us on the green for a whole day of unlimited golf in support of GI health and wellness.
Unlike a traditional golf tournament, there is no fee to enter, and just as for a walk-a-thon, you will gather pledges from friends, family, and colleagues, raising a minimum of $500 [amount reduced, was $1,500] in charitable donations. They’ll get tax receipts for 100% of their donations. You’ll get to play as many rounds of golf as you wish.
Actively participating in this popular fundraising event helps to increase public awareness, provide critical patient information, and support medical research in the GI field. But there’s more … it could also help dramatically improve your golf game! When else can you have unlimited access to a golf course all day long?
Players gather donations from business associates, friends, and family one of two ways. You can accumulate pledges on a ‘per-hole’ basis, so the more you play the more you raise for this cause. Alternatively, if you like a more relaxed pace, you can choose to gather ‘flat’ donations and enjoy the course at your leisure, perhaps a round in the morning and another in the afternoon. It’s your choice!
We get you ready to go with an early breakfast and even deliver lunch and snacks to you on the course so that you can maximize your playtime. Once the day is done and your holes tallied up, enjoy a delicious feast together with the other marathoners. Every player receives a reward, with extra special attention to fun prizes and incentives for ‘most holes played’ and ‘most money raised.’
This event takes place on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Northview Golf and Country Club. For the exclusive use of Golf Marathon participants, we’ve reserved the beautiful Canal course, which was designed by Arnold Palmer.
To participate, you are responsible for raising a minimum of $500 [amount reduced, was $1,500] in charitable donations, although players are encouraged to raise as much as possible. By raising a minimum of $1,500 in donations [amount reduced, was $2,500], you may bring along a friend to drive your golf cart, watch you play, and share in the fun!
We have many ideas for you to gather pledges and we’ll give you tips to get you going. Your friends will look at you with wonder when you tell them you plan to play 100 holes in one day – but you can do it! If each of the 40 players raises $2,500, then we will reach our goal of raising $100,000.
ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Participation is limited. Call Gail Attara at 604-875-4875 or email golf@badgut.org for more information and to sign up now for tons of fun while supporting this worthwhile cause!
Sponsorship opportunities are available.
