Lactose Intolerant Diet
Lactose is a type of sugar found in dairy products, such as milk,
yogurt and cheese. When someone is lactose intolerant, their body is
not able to break down the lactose.
Common complaints include gas, bloating, abdominal cramps, diarrhea and
possibly nausea. These usually occur within 30 minutes to 2
hours after eating a food containing lactose.
High lactose foods and beverages include milk, butter milk, evaporated
milk, condensed milk, ice milk, whipping cream and yogurt. Lactose
free alternatives include soy beverages, rice beverages and lactaid
milk.
