High Fibre Diet
Fibre can help maintain bowel health, control blood sugar levels,
improve cholesterol and may help reduce the risk of colon cancer. For
someone who is managing their weight, it can also have a satiety
effect, helping the individual feel full longer thus helping control
appetite.
A high fibre diet emphasizes foods such as whole grain breads and
cereals, beans, peas & lentils, and fruits and vegetables. Insoluble
fibre (whole wheat bread, wheat bran, vegetables) and soluble fibre
(oatmeal, barley, fruit, flaxseed) should also be emphasized.
